For Providers
Licensed health care professionals and facilities need to:
- Understand how the NPI impacts their daily processes.
- Obtain their NPI(s)
- Notify payers (including Regence), clearinghouses, billing services, Practice Management Systems (PMS) vendors and any electronic trading partner they do business with about their NPI(s)
- Align (map or cross reference) old payer-specific provider numbers with their new NPI(s) for proper billing and payment processing.
- Validate that the change from their current provider numbers to their new NPI(s) are properly done.
For Regence
- Implement an NPI outreach program about the business and technical impact.
- Add NPI number(s) as we receive them to our provider file.
- Align (map or cross reference) individual or organizational Regence billing number(s) with your new individual or organizational NPI(s)
- Modify systems and processes to accommodate the NPI
- Validate the implementation of the NPI will have no adverse impacts to provider payments
